It’s often hard to find time to sit and pray. You’d be surprised, but including Christ into your everyday living doesn’t have to be done through grand and bold gestures. It can be in small little moments that add up to something greater. Nothing is wasted on Him!
Here are 10 small ways to bring Christ into your everyday, in the spaces and places you are in most often. I use them all the time, and they are ways that help me take a quick breath, and refocus my energy and attitude on Him. They remind me of His presence and His promises.
1. Make a scripture verse, song lyric, quotation, or Christ-driven affirmation your phone background. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. It’s just a small reminder you see every time you open your phone that He’s present.
2. Leave a sticky note. Put your favorite word, affirmation, or quotation on there. Leave it on your mirror, a window, or on the corner of your computer screen.
3. Set a reminder on your phone. Have a daily verse pop up, or have a quick, daily affirmation or phrase show up. It could be something like “Say an Our Father” or “Breathe! Jesus is here” or “Thank God.”
4. Leave your Bible open. Having your favorite passage open on your nightstand or desk will make you read it! If it’s out, you’re more likely to engage.
5. Wear a religious symbol of your faith. The obvious is a cross or crucifix, but there are so many beautiful pieces of jewelry to buy, like Rosary bracelets, necklaces with scripture, or Saint medals.
6. Work through a daily devotional or prayer journal. It’s a good way to take a few minutes to reflect. You can use my prayer journal with quick daily prompts for free here. If you want to learn how I prayer journal, you can read my post here.
7. Carry around a Rosary Chaplet. It’s a beautiful way to keep a prayer in your pocket. I like to fidget with things, so I figured the best thing to do in order to calm my mind while also “playing” with something is to say a Hail Mary or two.
8. Text someone telling them that you are thinking of them and praying for them. Not only is this a way to pray more often, but it’s a way to make someone’s day brighter. Hopefully, they’ll pray for you, too!
9. Listen to Jesus Jams. Also known as Christian or faith songs. I just like alliteration. Make a quick playlist with any songs you can listen to on your way to work, on your morning commute, or as your brush your teeth.
10. Pick a moment to breathe. Take a few minutes to actually just sit and reflect. As I mentioned in my article “Eleven-Eleven,” it helps to find one simple moment a day. Set a timer on your phone to isolate a minute or two, or make it something that is consistent, like walking through the front door of your home.
Use all of them, or pick just one! As I said before, nothing is wasted on Jesus. He appreciates all the little moments you’re willing to give Him throughout the chaos of your day.
